Embracing Gratitude
October 2022
“Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness. It’s the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul.”
- Amy Collette
Gratitude is an emotion, strength, and practice, and it helps us appreciate the value of something. It is the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
The last two years of pandemic and the various challenges associated with it have taught us to be thankful for all the little things that we have in life - family, school, friends, food, etc. But as time passes on we must not forget to appreciate , express thankfulness and start taking the good things in our lives for granted.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving Day in the month of November, I apprise all my dear students to cultivate the virtue of Gratitude. Starting our day and ending it by thanking the almighty, we must all have the feeling of gratitude and appreciate the services given to us by all the people around us –our parents, teachers, helpers, attenders, school bus drivers, etc. Saying a “Thank You” might be a very small task but can make a huge difference to those helping us.
Writing gratitude letters is yet another way to express our appreciation . It promotes enduring thankfulness, sharing appreciation with those that have positively influenced our lives and yet may have never been properly thanked. Such notes include our feelings towards the recipient, acknowledging what they have done and how they have supported us. Gratitude letters can help develop new relationships, maintain existing ones, and increase happiness and wellbeing and are avaluable tool for the therapist working with a client or as astandalone practice for self-development.I would share a quote that motivates me to stay grateful foreverything and I am sure will help my students too to inculcate thisquality."Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more youexpress gratitude for what you have, the more likely you willhave even more to express gratitude for." - Zig Ziglar
